About The Single

British composer Debbie Wiseman OBE finished writing a new piece called ‘I’m Walking With You’ especially for Lucy in early 2024 after a serendipitous moment of hearing the beginnings of Wiseman’s piece on a radio programme. Lucy incorporated the original work into her recording project for 2024 and Wiseman wrote some beautiful string parts which were recorded at Air Studios. In an inspiring exhibition of unity, the piece is set to receive its television world premiere during the Paralympics homecoming on September 14th 2024.

Taking the seat at George Michael’s piano, recording began last year at the legendary Metropolis Studios for Lucy’s very own album. Autumn 2024 will see these recordings enter the world for the first time, beginning with the release of “I’m Walking With You” on September 13th.

LUCY THE PIANIST
The Story of Lucy

  • BAFTA nominated Lucy stole the nation’s hearts when she won Channel 4’s The Piano at just 13 years old, having performed on a keyboard at Leeds Train Station.

Lucy is hypermobile and suffers with CVS. She is in remission from bi-lateral retina-blastoma and is globally developmentally delayed.

  • World-renowned pianist, Lang Lang and pop sensation, Mika crowned 13-year-old Lucy, the ‘unofficial’ winner of the competition with her stunning performance of Debussy’s Arabesque No1, which she performed in front of 2000 people at the Royal Festival Hall.

Since then…

Lucy was invited to perform at HRH King‘s Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle  where she played a note perfect performance of Bach Prelude in C in front of 18 million people.

The world renowned Royal Albert Hall welcomed Lucy to the stage for the first time in October 2023, performing Debussy Arabesque No.1 and Bach Prelude in C to a full house at Classic FM Live. Classic FM’s reel of her performance has over 11.7m views – the biggest ever reel on Classic FM to date.

Lucy and Lang Lang’s special bond began on Ch4’s The Piano and continued at Windsor Castle where they both appeared at the Coronation Concert. Later that year they were both invited to perform at the ITV Royal Variety, again, taking to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall. Whilst filming the Hungarian Dance for ITV’s Royal Variety at the Royal Albert Hall, a magical moment between the two of them was captured during some downtime with an impromptu duet of Faure’s Pavane Op.50. The Lang Lang International Music Foundation soon announced Lucy as an International Ambassador.
